Shirley J. (Case) Sousley

Shirley J. (Case) Sousley was born September 28, 1934, in Kansas City, Missouri and departed this life on March 18, 2022, at Meadow View Health and Rehabilitation Center in Harrisonville, Missouri at the age of 87 years, 5 months and 18 days.

She was the daughter of Walter E. and Martha E. (Call) Case.

Shirley spent her younger years in Kansas City, Missouri where she attended Northeast High School. After high school, Shirley worked as a bookkeeper for many small businesses.

On June 30, 1975, Shirley was united in marriage with Don Sousley in Las Vegas, Nevada. They lived in Peculiar, Missouri until 1989 when they moved to Pleasant Hill, Missouri to make their home. Shirley and Don owned and operated G & M Grocery in Pleasant Hill for several years.

Shirley was an active member of the Kingsville Baptist Church, Kingsville, Missouri. She was a passionate, dedicated, and tireless volunteer for Operation Christmas Child which is an outreach program of Samaritan’s Purse. When she would travel to North Carolina to visit her daughter, she always made sure she was signed up to work at the main distribution center for Operation Christmas Child in Charlotte, North Carolina during the time she was there.

Shirley enjoyed canning, cooking, and square dancing.

Above all else, Shirley was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother. She took great pride in her family.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Martha Case; one stepson, Donnie Sousley; one grandson, Donnie Jeffrey Sousley; one brother and four sisters.

She is survived by her husband, Don Sousley of the home; two sons, Art Skeens and wife Charlotte of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Kevin Skeens of Peculiar, Missouri; two daughters, Jeanne Bell and husband Jim of Olathe, Kansas and Danna Ross and husband Mike of Raleigh, North Carolina; two stepdaughters, Becky Clutter and husband Tim of Cleveland, Missouri and Karen Couts and husband David of Whiteside, Missouri; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

The family of Shirley J. (Case) Sousley will receive friends on Thursday, March 24, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., at the Kingsville Baptist Church, 203 W. Adriatic Street, Kingsville, Missouri 64061. Funeral service will immediately follow at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor John McRoy officiating. Casket Bearers will be Terry Moore, Jordan Skeens, K. R. Ross, Mason Street, Logan Dalrymple and Evan Utterback. Interment will be in Staley Mound Cemetery. In memory of Shirley J. Sousley, the family suggests contributions to the Kingsville Baptist Church.
