Sharon Rose Gray

July 27, 1939 – April 6, 2024

 

Sharon Rose Gray, beloved daughter, sister, mother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at home with family on April 6, 2024, at the age of 84. She was born on July 27, 1939, at the family home in Parke County, Indiana, as the third child of Lelah Burkett Harney and Alonzo Harney.

 

Sharon is survived by her devoted husband, Gene Oliver, along with daughter, Sabrina Gray, bonus son, David Oliver, brother Dennis Harney of Parke County, sister Diane Zimmerman (Ronald) of Greencastle, and Harold “Bud” Harney of Greencastle. She is also survived by her loving nieces, nephews, and cherished “adopted children.” Sharon found great companionship in her faithful cat, Precious, and grand cat, Pearl.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Barbara Ann Bridges of Greencastle.

 

Sharon was known for her love of travel and enjoyment of casinos, but her greatest joy came from spending treasured moments with her family. She cherished every opportunity to create lasting memories and share laughter with her loved ones.

 

Sharon’s kind heart, generous spirit, and vibrant personality will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

 

KANSAS CITY: A Celebration of Life for Sharon will be held at The Ameristar Casino in Kansas City on Sunday, April 28th, 2024, from 3:00 – 7:00 pm. It will be in the Station 9 Train Depot which is at the main entrance of the building.  

 

GREENCASTLE, INDIANA: There will also be a Celebration of Life in her hometown of Greencastle Indiana.  It will be held at The American Legion – Greencastle, on Friday April 19th, 2024, from 3:30 – 6:00 pm.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to KC Pet Project (kcpetproject.org/donate) in Sharon’s honor.

 

Rest in peace, Sharon. Your memory will forever remain in our hearts.

    One of the brightest days was meeting this lady and the family. Each time you couldn’t help but smile and know you have just met real, genuine, caring people. Thank you for that chance and adding such joy to my day. Thoughts and sincere Prayers to all in thus time of grief. God bless and keep you in His loving arms……always.
