Ricky M. “Rick” Hunt

Rick M. Hunt was born October 20, 1957 in Holden, Missouri and departed this life on August 25, 2021, surrounded by the love of his family and his dog, Sadie, at his home in Pleasant Hill, Missouri at the age of 63 years, 10 months and 5 days.

He was the son of Robert Marion and Rena Mae (Shewmaker) Hunt.

Rick spent his younger years in Greenwood, Missouri and attended Lee’s Summit High School, Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Rick was a man with a strong work ethic. After high school Rick worked for Kenell Building Materials in Greenwood for 22 years before accepting a position with Whistle Redi-Mix in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, where he worked for another 18 years. In 2016, Rick began working for Wilmoth’s Basement Company as a panel truck driver, retiring in May of this year.

On November 3, 1979, Rick was united in marriage with Janet Hood in Lone Jack, Missouri and they made their home in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. In 1997, Rick moved to Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

Rick was a “mountain man” through and through and took great pride and confidence in his knowledge of the outdoors. But, above all else, Rick loved his family and was extremely proud of his grandchildren. He remained close to his three brothers, even after the death of their parents, and they made it a point to gather at least once a week at Rick’s house where he would prepare dinner for them and anyone else who happened to be there.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Rena Hunt.

He is survived by his former wife and forever love, Janet (Hood) Hunt of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; son (Rick’s “Main Man”), Ricky Hunt, II of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; daughter (Rick’s “Baby Girl”) Nicole Hunt of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; brothers, Robert Marion Hunt, II and wife Robin of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Randy Michael Hunt and wife Brenda Kay of Peculiar, Missouri, and Russell Murray Hunt of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; grandchildren, Brooklen Bird and Ricky M. Hunt, III; his faithful canine companion, Sadie; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many, many friends.

Per Rick’s wishes, cremation has been accorded.

A Memorial Service, In Memory of Ricky M. “Rick” Hunt, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the Wallace Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill, Missouri with Elder Butch Shewmaker officiating. Inurnment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

      Nicole I am so sorry for your loss I know how hard it must be but im sure your dad would tell you that he is in a better place now and that he can now watch over you and Brooklyn and that he love you both and he would want to let you know he is at peace now and he would want you to be at peace also he loves his baby girl! So if you ever need guideness and direction please don’t hesitate to talk to him he will be listening to your every need .     Paul and I are heartbroken to hear of Rick’s passing. I know he always cared so much for you and his children and grandchildren. Just know we are here for you.     I never got to meet Rick but im sure he was a great man I know his daughter Nicole spoke highly of him and even though I haven t spoke with Nicole in some time im sure her heart is broken and I want to send my thoughts and prayers of comfort to the intire family.God Bless and RIP Rick
