Richard Lee “Bud” Alexander, Jr. was born July 25, 1938 in Pleasant Hill, Missouri and departed this life, unexpectedly, on August 25, 2015 at his home in Pleasant Hill, Missouri at the age of 77 years and 1 month. He was the son of Richard Lee Alexander, Sr. and Catherine Elizabeth (Schwab) Alexander.
When Bud was still a young child the Alexander family moved to Independence, Missouri to make their home. Bud attended school in Independence, but spent most of his summers in Pleasant Hill.
On January 11, 1958 he was united in marriage with Patricia “Patty” Sloan at the Pleasant Hill First Christian Church, and they made their home in Pleasant Hill.
Before his retirement, Bud worked for General Motors and was a member of Local # 31 U.A.W. of Kansas City. He also worked part time for the City of Pleasant Hill. He loved to hunt, fish and took great pride in the beautiful garden he raised. Bud was a member and Past Master of Jewel Lodge #480 A.F. & A. M., a member and Past High Priest of Royal Arch Masons, Wyoming Chapter #43 and a Past Patron of Ivy Leaf Chapter #215 Order of the Eastern Star, all of Pleasant Hill. He was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Pleasant Hill where he had served as both an Elder and a Deacon, and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Historical Society.
Bud was preceded in death by his father and mother, Richard L. Alexander, Sr. and Catherine (Schwab) Alexander, and one sister, Betty Jean Oxley.
He is survived by his wife, Patty Alexander of the home; one son, Richard F. Alexander and wife Patti of Pleasant Hill; one daughter, LeAnne Marie Fuller of Los Angles, California; five grandchildren, Richard Preston Alexander, Kevin Michael Alexander, Joshua Dean Alexander, Sawyer Marriott Fuller and Lillian Adele Fuller; three great grandchildren, Hunter Michael, Fionna Celeste and Richard Felix Alexander; other relatives and many, many friends.
Funeral Service for Richard Lee “Bud” Alexander, Jr. will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2015 at the Wallace Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill with Rev. Kent Deubner officiating. Casket Bearers are Richard Preston Alexander, Kevin Michael Alexander, Joshua Dean Alexander, Sawyer Marriott Fuller, Lillian Adele Fuller and Nicholas Althauser. Burial will be in the Sloan Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 28, 2015 at the Wallace Funeral Home. A Masonic Service by Jewel Lodge #480 A.F. & A. M. of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, will immediately follow the visitation at 8:00 p.m.
Contributions in memory of Richard Lee “Bud” Alexander, Jr. may be made to the Pleasant Hill First Christian Church and may be left at the funeral home.
