Ocie Scarborough, 75, of Blue Springs, Missouri passed away at home in his sleep on November 18 after multiple illnesses. Ocie was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Ocie Sr. and Dorothy Scarborough in 1948. They later moved to Leavenworth, KS, where Ocie spent his childhood.  Ocie graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1966, after which he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He proudly served his country as a member of the 101st Airborne in the Vietnam War.

Upon his return to civilian life, Ocie spent over 35 years working in the banking industry as a check processor. This included time at both the Federal Reserve Bank and Commerce Bank of Kansas City, on both the day shift and the night shift. Ocie counted many of his co-workers as good friends, and carried fond memories of their time together for the rest of his life. He also met his wife of 37 years, Dawn Funk while working at the Federal Reserve. They were married in June of 1986 and immensely enjoyed their lives together until they were parted by death.

Ocie was preceded in death by his parents, Ocie Sr. and Dorothy Scarborough.

He is survived by his wife, Dawn, of the home, his two children; Amy Kissick of Raymore, Missouri and Matthew Scarborough of Harrisonville, Missouri ; sister Jane Scarborough and brother Tom Scarborough (Anita) of Leavenworth, Kansas; Brother – in -law Dean Funk (Brenda) of O’Fallon, Missouri; four grandchildren; Cheyanne Kissick, McKenzie Morrison (Jeff), Abbie Kissick and Connor Kissick, as well as two great granddaughters; Sawyer and Tatum Morrison, who sadly never got to meet their great grandpa.

There will be a Celebration of Life Visitation for Ocie on January 6, 2024 at the Wallace Funeral Home, 422 N. Lake St, Pleasant Hill, MO from 10 am to noon.

A private inurnment with Full Military Honors, presented by the United States Army & V.F.W. Post # 3118 Honor Guard of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, will take place at a later time at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery

 Everyone is encouraged to dress casually. Lets be comfortable.

    Dawn, I have gotten so feeble that I really don’t drive very far from home, so I probably can’t be there. I just want you to know my heart is with you & my prayers always include you. I enjoyed working with Ocie so much & listening to his commentaries! 😊

    Ocie was one of my favorites at the Fed. We worked a lot of years together. I so enjoyed his dry wit that kept me laughing daily. Will never forget him ever. R.I.P. my friend. We’ll laugh again together some day❤️
