MARY SUSAN “Susie” (Prewitt) HUFFMAN

Mary Susan “Susie” (Prewitt) Huffman was born June 21, 1951 in Cass County, Missouri and departed this life on September 29, 2022 at her home in Pleasant Hill, Missouri at the age of 71 years, 3 months and 8 days.

She was the daughter of Marion G. Prewitt and Kathryn “Lodine” (Campbell) Prewitt.

Susie spent her younger years in Pleasant Hill, graduating from Pleasant Hill High School in 1969. In 1987, Susie moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she lived for 25 years before moving to Lone Jack, Missouri, then to Greenwood, Missouri. In 2016, Susie moved back to Pleasant Hill to make her home.

Susie worked as an accountant for the Internal Revenue Service in Kansas City, Missouri for several years, before becoming a full-time foster parent. Over the years, Susie fostered countless children showing them love and compassion.

Susie’s life was a busy one, and when she needed a break, she enjoyed jumping in her car and just driving while listening to music. She also enjoyed crafting, and playing solitaire.

Susie loved and appreciated her family. She was a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother. She always took care of her children and grandchildren, and was a good provider.

Susie was preceded in death by one daughter, Miranda “Mandy” Huffman; her parents, Marion G. Prewitt and Lodine Prewitt and three sisters, Lela Johnson, Loma Ione “Billie” Cole and Virginia “Ginger” Terril.

She is survived by one son, Jeffrey Scott Dixon of Colorado; one daughter, Stacia Huffman of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; two sisters, Gayle Schmoll and husband Max, and Carol Sechrest and husband Clarence all of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; Eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Per Susie’s wishes, cremation has been accorded. The Family has decided against formal visitation or memorial services and opted instead for a more casual picnic memorial by the lake. Anyone that would like to come remember Susie is welcome. For details, please see link below.

    I am so sorry to hear of Susie’s passing. I have so many happy memories of being at the house on Cedar and enjoying such a large family. Felt a part of it many times. Susie had such a great smile. My heart is with you all.
