Mary (Slaughter) Longaker of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, was born July 2, 1952 in Buckner, Missouri and departed this life on January 28, 2017 at her home, with her family by her side, at the age of 64 years, 6 months and 26 days.
She was the daughter of Wesley Frank Slaughter, Sr. and Edith Ann (Snow) Slaughter. Mary was married to Doug Longaker, who was also her band mate, for 25 years. Mary had many dreams for herself and her family. The one dream she had since a child, and could never shake, was to have her voice heard all over the world. Right now she is probably in heaven wailing away for the Lord in front of an awesome band. She can never be replaced and will never be forgotten.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, Frank Slaughter, Sr.
She is survived by her husband, Doug Longaker of the home; her mother, Ann Slaughter of Lee’s Summit; two sons; Jesse McIntyre and wife Sally of Nashville, TN., and Justin McIntyre and fiancé Kristen Eckery of Lincoln, NB; one daughter, Charlotte McIntyre of Tucson, AZ; her brother Frank Slaughter, Jr. and wife Brenda of Lee’s Summit, MO; one sister Patty (Slaughter) Prewitt; one grandson, River; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.
Cremation has been accorded and a Celebration of Life Service in honor of Mary (Slaughter) Longaker, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Open Range Fellowship, 509 W. Lone Jack Lee’s Summit Road, Lone Jack, Missouri 64070, with Pastor Frank Slaughter, Jr. officiating.
