Lindel Bryant

Lindel Monroe Bryant, 88, passed away peacefully at his home in Lee’s Summit, Missouri on February 21, 2017. Lindel was born on December 16, 1928 the sixth of ten children in Acorn, Missouri an unincorporated area of Ripley County in southern Missouri.

In 1936 the family moved to a farm outside of Auxvasse, Missouri where he attended Concord School and Church. In the late 1940’s he relocated to Kansas City, Missouri and went to work in the flooring industry and eventually opened a flooring business with his brothers. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War period. After his time in the Army he returned to Kansas City. On June 13, 1957 he married Brenda Joyce Hamilton in Kansas City, Missouri and they had three children together. In the early 1970’s Lindel purchased some acreage outside of Strasburg, Missouri, built a new home, and moved the family to the country.

Lindel enjoyed gardening, mowing, cutting wood and other outdoor activities on the property. In 1987 Lindel retired from the flooring business and moved to Deer, Arkansas. While living there he and his brother Frank along with their two sons owned and operated a hog farm for ten years. After selling the hog operation Lindel and Brenda moved to the Lake of the Ozarks where they owned a vacation home since the 1960’s. In 2014 they moved to Lee’s Summit, Missouri because of Lindel’s declining health.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Nettie Mae (Kysar) Bryant; brothers, Alvin, Leroy, Frank and Bob Bryant; sisters, Ruby Lang, Louise Duhtu and Helen Robinson, and one grandson, Jared Bryant.

He is survived by his wife of nearly sixty years Brenda; sons, Jerome Kent Bryant and wife Pamela of Kingsville, Missouri, and Stacy Len Bryant and wife Kelly of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; daughter, Jana Scharmin Graham of Stover, Missouri; brother, Milus Bryant of Phoenix, Arizona; sister, Faye McCulley of Wichita, Kansas; 5 grandchildren, Shanna, Aaron, Kaleb, Emily and Levi; 2 great grandchildren, Riian and Kysar; one great-great grandson, Ashton, other relatives and many friends.

Cremation has been accorded. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Wallace Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill, MO, with Pastor Bobby Ray Bryant officiating. Military Honors will be provided by V.F.W. Post #3118 of Pleasant Hill, Missouri and the United States Army, and will follow the Celebration of Life Service at the funeral home.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 12:00 noon.
