Leroy “Gene” Hails

Leroy Eugene “Gene” Hails was born March 25, 1958 in Oak Park, Illinois and departed this life on October 7, 2015 at the home of his niece and nephew in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, surrounded by the love of his family.

He was the son of Richard Dean and Beulah Irene (Dicken) Hails.

While he was still a baby, the Hails family moved to Archie, Missouri where Gene spent his younger years and attended school. During Gene’s high school years the family moved to Gladstone, Missouri where he graduated from Oak Park High School in 1976. After graduation, Gene remained in the Gladstone area for the rest of his life.

Gene was a floor manager for Mission Plastics until declining health forced his retirement. Prior to working at Mission Plastics, Gene was a bricklayer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Dean Hails and his mother, Beulah Irene Scrivener.

Gene is survived by two sons, Matthew Hails and fiancé Megan of Wheatland, Missouri and Johnathon Hails of Ft. Carson, Colorado; four sisters, Debra Awtrey and husband Alden of Wellington, Missouri, Sandra Rodkey and husband Jim of Kansas City, Missouri, Robin Boydston and husband Johnny of Edgerton, Missouri and Mary Elizabeth Hails also of Wellington, Missouri; two granddaughters, Haley and Promise, other relatives and many friends.
Cremation has been accorded and a private family service will be held.
