Kelly Thomas Hughes

Kelly Thomas Hughes, age 60, of Blue Springs, Missouri, departed from this world on Monday, March 25, 2024. Born on January 17, he was the cherished son of Thomas C. and Violet E. Hughes (nee Plato), from Chicago, Illinois. Kelly attended William Fremd High School in Palatine, Illinois, and later earned his degree from the University of Illinois – Chicago.

As a turnaround management professional, Kelly boasted an impressive 30-year career dedicated to the revitalization and restructuring of businesses, particularly in healthcare, manufacturing, and distribution sectors. His expertise and guidance proved invaluable in helping numerous organizations across the United States develop and implement restructuring and financial strategies to improve and optimize performance with the goal of achieving financial stability.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Kelly was a passionate animal lover, with a special affinity for dogs. He found joy in the company of four-legged companions and welcomed every wagging tail into his heart with open arms. Kelly’s interests spanned far and wide, encompassing travel, music, the arts, and anything involving food, especially if shared with a loved one, and sports. He had a special allegiance to his beloved Chicago teams. He once quipped, “My favorite team is the Chicago Bears, and my second favorite team is whoever is playing the Packers.”

The memory of Kelly’s love and life will forever be cherished by his fiancée of 20 years, Kelley D. McDonald, and beloved daughter, Katherine. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Kimberly.

A visitation service in remembrance of Kelly’s life will be held on Monday, April 8, at Wallace Funeral Home, located at 422 N Lake St, Pleasant Hill, MO 64080. Family and friends are invited to gather and pay their respects from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
