Helping Families and Friends Honor Loved Ones Since 1959

Judy M. (Widup) Greathouse

JUDY MARIE (Widup) GREATHOUSE

Judy Marie Widup Greathouse was born on February 27, 1942 in Parsons Kansas and departed this life on April 6, 2025 at her residence in Overland Park Kansas at the age of 83 years.

Judy was born the daughter of Lyle and Juanita (Thrasher) Widup. She was the youngest of 3 sisters. After graduating from Parsons High School Judy attended Pittsburgh State University where she met her husband. She married Ron Greathouse of Garden City Kansas on August 10, 1963. They remained married for 53 years until Ron’s passing in 2016. Early in their married life they settled in the Kansas City area where they raised 2 daughters.

Judy loved to be outdoors and particularly enjoyed golfing and yard work. She also liked reading, relaxing on the lake and playing bridge.  Judy was an avid sports fan. Especially in her later years, her life revolved around football and golf. Soaking up games and stats from TV and the paper daily, she loved rooting for Kansas City’s home teams. Judy did not know a stranger, she made a friend wherever she went. She was the biggest cheerleader for her treasured family and friends – She was a great listener and had a gift of making people feel loved and important. Judy also had the biggest heart for animals and was known to lose sleep worrying about animals that didn’t have a loving home.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband Ron, parents Lyle and Juanita Widup, sister Dixie Broadhurst (Ronnie), and son-in-law Jerry Norsworthy.

She is survived by her daughters Sonja Campbell (David) and MaryBeth Norsworthy, her grandchildren Madeline and Jacob Campbell (Brooke Wilcox), Sister Kay Vacca (Joe) and many beloved nieces and nephews.

There will be a private graveside service followed by a celebration of life on Sunday April 27, at 5pm at the Duck Pond Activity Center: 111 SW Cole Younger Drive, Lees Summit MO 64082.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to your favorite animal shelter or rescue in her honor.

Sonia, Mary Beth and family. We send our condolences in the passing of your Mother. We remember the many times we spent with your father, Ron and Judy. They were so devoted to each other and their family and were also loyal friends and colleagues through our time at MCC. We will always remember them in that way and be grateful for the friendship and time we spent together. God’s blessings to you at this time.
