Juanita Nickols

Juanita Nickols was born February 15, 1938, she, along with her twin sister Anita were the first set of twins born at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. Juanita departed this life on July 27, 2017 at John Knox Village Hospice House at the age of 79 years, 5 months and 12 days.

She was the daughter of Lemuel Lewis and Lillian Louise (Schultz) Gustin.

Juanita spent her younger years in Pierce City, Missouri and graduated Pierce City High School. After graduation she moved to St. Louis where she worked for an insurance agency. On August 27, 1960 she was united in marriage with Everette Paul Nickols in Pierce City, Missouri and shortly after their marriage they moved to Pleasant Hill, Missouri to make their home.

Before her retirement in 1994, Juanita was a Quality Assurance Specialist for the I.R.S. Juanita was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pleasant Hill, and was also a member of The National Association of Federal Workers. She was tireless and faithful volunteer for several organizations including Meals On Wheels, American Cancer Society, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the American Diabetes Association. Juanita had also been a member of the original Lone Jack Housewives Bowling League, which later became the Senior League.

Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Everette Paul Nickols on September 29, 2002 and her parents, Lemuel Lewis and Lillian Louise Gustin.

She is survived by two sons, Lewis Paul Nickols and wife Becky, and Rob Nickols and wife Maria all of Pleasant Hill; her twin sister, Anita Rhea and husband Bill of Lone Jack, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Edna Wood of Downey, California, and Juanita Langford of Monet, Missouri; five grandchildren, Victoria and Anastatia Nickols, and Levi Gilmore all of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Justin Gilmore of Kettering, Ohio and Matthew Gilmore of Appleton City, Missouri; nine great-grandchildren; two nieces, Lisa Wilson of Lone Jack and Cindi Meyer of Kansas City Kansas; other relatives and many, many friends.

Cremation has been accorded. The family of Juanita Nickols will receive friends from 6 – 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at the Wallace Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill. Contributions In Memory of Juanita Nickols may be made to Village Hospice, 1001 NW Chipman Road, Lee’s Summit, Missouri 64081 or may be left at the funeral home.
