Joretta L. (Crane) Adams

Joretta Lea (Crane) Adams was born May 4, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri and departed this life on August 1, 2019 at St. Luke’s East Hospital, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, surrounded by the love of her family, at the age of 76 years, 2 months and 28 days.

She was the daughter of Archie Lee and Ruby Anna (Edison) Crane.

Joretta spent her younger years in the Kansas City area, graduating from East High School in 1961.

On December 31, 1964, Joretta was united in marriage with her “sweetheart since kindergarten”, Robert Dean Adams in Independence, Missouri, and through this union three children were born. After their marriage they lived in Raytown, Missouri until 1970 when they moved to Lone Jack, Missouri to make their home.

For many years, when her children were young, Joretta was a school bus driver for the Lone Jack, Missouri school district. Later she became a travel escort for John Knox Village, where she organized many fabulous trips for the residents and accompanied them on their journeys around the world. After her retirement, Joretta ‘s love of travel lead her and Bob on many exciting trips and adventures across the country.

The most important thing in Joretta’s life was her family, she loved them all, and always made each and every one of them feel special. For many years she hosted family Sunday dinners where all could gather and enjoy one another. Her family was a true blessing in her life.

Joretta was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Ruby Crane.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Dean Adams of the home; two daughters, Connie Taylor of Pleasant Hill, Missouri and Teri Sword of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; one son, Robert “Bobby” Adams, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Lone Jack, Missouri; three sisters, Norma Rustin of St. Mary’s, Washington, Judith Crane of Prairie Village, Kansas, and Linda Beeson and husband Ray of Belton, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Erica Kee (Adam), Britnie Callahan, Ashley Beason (Keith), Zachary Taylor, Mackenzie Prewitt (Nick), Joshua Sword (Hannah), Samantha Elliott (Lowell), Kyle Adams, Ryan Adams and Sydney Adams.; six great grandchildren, Hayden Kee, Michael Metcalf, Gage Beason, Colton Beason, Sophie Kee and Kane Driggers; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.

The family of Joretta Lea (Crane) Adams will receive family and friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12 Noon, Saturday, August 10, 2019 at the Lone Jack Civic Center, 509 S. Bynum Rd., Lone Jack, Missouri 64070. A Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow a 12 Noon.  In Lieu of flowers you may make a donation “In Memory of Joretta Adams” to “Research” at the K.U.     So sorry for your loss, I was a friend of Joretta’s in high school. She was such nice, fun person to be around.
