JAMES PATRICK KNOX

James Patrick Knox was born August 3, 1942 in Kansas City, Missouri and departed this life on April 28, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri, at the age of 78 years old.

He was the son of Gilbert Leo and Marguerite Jesse (Conard) Knox.

Jim spent most of his life in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, graduating from Pleasant Hill High School in 1961. After high school, he attended Northwest Missouri State College in Maryville, Missouri. In 1964, Jim joined the Missouri National Guard and proudly served his country for over 21 years.

On August 19, 1982, Jim was united in holy matrimony to Joyce Darline Bridgewater in Harrisonville, Missouri. Living happily in Pleasant Hill until Jim retired and they moved to the country in Centerview, Missouri.

Jim worked for Dupont Refinish for over 44 years, retiring as Warehouse Supervisor in 2006.

Jim was a loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He was completely devoted to his entire family and always available if anyone needed him. Jim loved spending as much time as he possibly could with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He especially enjoyed eating Neapolitan ice cream with his great granddaughters.

Jim was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus #13113 of Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Jim enjoyed bowling and had been a member of a bowling league for several years. He took great pride in keeping his yard beautiful and could often be found on his mower or with his weed eater, just making sure everything was perfect.

Jim was preceded in death by his son, Matthew James Knox on February 9, 1986; his father, Gilbert Leo Knox on March 28, 1988; his mother, Marguerite Jesse Knox on January 21, 2000 and one brother, Donald Knox.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Knox of the home; one daughter, Natalie (Knox) Erdman of Odessa, Missouri; two sisters, Delores Jones and husband Richard, and Joyce Wheeldon and husband Mike all of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; four grandchildren, Aaron Erdman and wife Maggie of Orlando, Florida, Jeff Erdman and wife Kirsten of Odessa, Missouri, Nathaniel Erdman and wife Jennifer of Oak Grove, Missouri, and Laray Tatum and Shanna Byrom of Blue Springs, Missouri; three great granddaughters, Elaina, Aubrey and Brookelynn, and many other family and friends.

All services for James Patrick Knox will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 2103 Lexington Road, Pleasant Hill, Missouri, beginning with Rosary Recitation at 9:30 a.m., the family will then receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Father Curt Vogel officiating. Casket Bearers will be Nathaniel Erdman, Jeff Erdman, Laray Tatum, Joe Hicks, Andy Knox and Derek Knox. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Full Military Honors conducted by the United States Army and V.F.W. Post #3118 Honor Guard of Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

The family would appreciate the wearing of masks.
