HELEN MAE (Oringderff) FARMER

Helen Mae (Oringderff) Farmer was born April 29, 1930 in Tucson, Arizona and departed this life on October 11, 2022 at her son’s home in Holden, Missouri, surrounded by the love of her family, at the age of 92 years, 5 months and 12 days.

She was the daughter of Evert Clarence and Iva (Jenkins) Oringderff.

Helen spent her younger years and attended school in the Bolivar, Missouri area. On August 27, 1947 she was united in marriage with Cecil Edward Farmer in Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. Helen and Cecil lived in several states throughout their married life, eventually settling in Blue Springs, Missouri. After the death of her husband Cecil on January 10, 1995, Helen moved to Grain Valley, Missouri, where she lived with her son Fred for the last 27 years.

Helen and Cecil owned and operated the Farmer’s Upholstery Shop in Blue Springs, Missouri for many years, where Helen put her expert skills as a seamstress to use.

Helen enjoyed family camping trips and loved “lake life”. She also enjoyed gardening and raising beautiful flowers. But above all else, Helen loved her family. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She not only raised her children, but was instrumental in helping to raise her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Cecil, Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Evert and Iva Oringderff; one son-in-law, Rev. Tony Reynolds; 2 brothers, Billy Ray and Evert “Cookie” and three sisters, Myrtle, Esther and Dixie.

She is survived by three sons, Cecil Edward Farmer, Jr. and wife Barb of Buckner, Missouri, Fred Evert Farmer of Grain Valley, Missouri and George Farmer and wife Michelle of Holden, Missouri; one daughter, Ruth Ellen Reynolds of Appleton City, Missouri; twelve grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

The family of Helen Mae (Oringderff) Farmer will receive friends from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 16, 2022 at the Wallace Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Funeral Service will immediately follow, at the funeral home, at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor James Damon officiating. Interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 17, 2022 at the Greenwood Cemetery in Bolivar, Missouri with Rev. Bill Nichols officiating. Casket Bearers will be Cecil Edward Farmer, Jr., Fred Evert Farmer, George Farmer, Fred Evert Farmer, Jr., Richard Nading, George Farmer, Jr. and Weston Farmer.
