Ermil F. (Davenport) Lee-Stowe

Ermil F. (Davenport) Lee-Stowe was born August 30, 1930 in Freeman, Missouri and departed this life on September 4, 2022 at her home in Lee’s Summit, Missouri at the age of 92 years and 5 days.

She was the daughter of William H. and Geneva F. (Duncan) Davenport.

Ermil spent her younger years in the Freeman, Missouri where she attended a rural school.

On March 28, 1947, Ermil was united in marriage with Robert E. “Bob” Lee in Paola, Kansas and to this union two daughters Sandy and Bonnie were born. In 1949, Ermil and Bob moved to Pleasant Hill, Missouri to make their home. Mr.  Lee preceded Ermil in death on November 27, 1982. In 1964, Ermil went to work at the Western Electric Plant in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, thus beginning her 24-year career with AT&T. Ermil retired from AT&T in May of 1988, at the time of her retirement she held the position of Process Checker.

Ermil was a dedicated and loving mother to her two girls. In 1956, she helped start the first Brownie Troop in Pleasant Hill and, was one of the founders of Pleasant Hill “Teen Town”. She became like a second mother to her children’s friends and was always there to listen and give advice when they needed it.

On March 24, 1988, Ermil was united in marriage with Jim Stowe in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, and with this union Ermil gained six bonus children. After their marriage they made their home in Pleasant Hill. Mr. Stowe passed away on July 22, 2000. Ermil continued to live in Pleasant Hill until 4 years ago when she moved to Assisted Living at John Knox Village in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

Ermil was an expert seamstress and had made several wedding gowns as well as bridesmaid and flower girl dresses. She also enjoyed quilting, home decorating and playing cards and games with family and friends. Ermil had a gift for making people feel at ease and was always a joy to be around. After moving to John Knox, she made the comment, “I may be sick, but I’ll never lose my sense of humor”, and she didn’t, she was still joking with her care-givers and her family until the end.

Ermil had been a member of V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #3118 and, a quilting group, both of Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

In addition to her husbands, Ermil was preceded in death by her parents, William and Geneva Davenport; one daughter, Bonnie Becker; her only sister, Audrey Stephens; twin great-grandchildren, Jonah Matthew and Emory Grace Scott; two step-sons, John and Edward; two step-daughters, Pamela and Vickki; and her very spoiled little westie, Duncan.

She is survived by one daughter, Sandy Scott and husband Michael of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; step-son, John Stowe and wife Tracey of Springfield, Missouri; step-daughter, Michelle Abualkhair and husband Thaer of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; son-in-law, Randy Becker of Springfield, Oregon; five grandchildren, Dr. Steve Scott and wife Heather of Columbia, Missouri, Jeff Scott and wife Dana of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Bobby Scott and wife Leah of Grain Valley, Missouri, Kathy Becker-Blease and husband John and, John Becker and wife Ellie all of Oregon; many great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

The family of Ermil F. (Davenport) Lee-Stowe will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at the Wallace Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at the funeral home with Rev. Preston Sanders officiating. Casket Bearers are Steve Scott, Jeff Scott, Bobby Scott, John Stowe, John Becker, Patrick Hughes and Simon Scott. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. In Memory of Ermil R.     I’ve been out of the family loop for some time but learned of Ermil’s passing and wanted to send my condolences.
