Donna J. (LaFountain) Rains

DONNA JEAN (LaFountain) RAINS

Donna Jean (LaFountain) Rains was born June 27, 1946 in Independence, Missouri and departed this life on July 3, 2023 at Pleasant Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, surrounded by the love of her family, at the age of 77 years and 6 days.

She was the daughter of Leo H. and Belma Frances (Corlew) LaFountain.

Donna spent her younger years in Independence, Missouri and graduated from Van Horn High School in 1964.

On August 28, 1964 she was united in marriage with David Lee Rains in Independence, Missouri. After their marriage, Donna and David made their home in Independence and lived there until 2006 when they moved to Wisconsin for two years. In 2008, Donna and David moved to Pleasant Hill to make their home.

Donna was a full-time wife, mother and homemaker. She was supportive and actively involved in her children’s individual endeavors and activities, even volunteering as a Cub Scout and Webelos leader for her son’s troop, and a leader for her daughter’s Girl Scout Troop.

Among Donna’s favorite hobbies were crafting, needlepoint and quilting. She enjoyed antiques stores and quilt shops.

Above all else, Donna loved her family. She looked forward to the special occasions when she could host holiday and family dinners. As much as she loved her children, when the grandchildren and great grandchild came along, they came first and she was crazy about all of them.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Belma LaFountain and her brother William Joseph LaFountain.

She is survived by her husband, David Lee Rains of the home; son, Devin Rains and wife April of Athens, Georgia; daughter, Denise Keeran of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; sister Kathie Stillians and husband Greg of Sarcoxie, Missouri; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild, other relatives and many, very dear friends.

Cremation has been accorded. No services are scheduled.
