Helping Families and Friends Honor Loved Ones Since 1959

Cheri L. (Kennedy) Younce

Cheri Lynn (Kennedy) Younce was born January 12, 1953, in Harrisonville, Missouri and departed this life on February 14, 2022, at St. Luke’s East Hospital, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, surrounded by the love of her family, at the age of 69 years, 1 month and 2 days.

She was the daughter of Billy Bob “Bill” and Jessie Marie (Johnson) Kennedy.

Cheri spent most of her life in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, graduating from Pleasant Hill High School in 1971. On January 12, 1971, she was united in marriage with Feddie Younce at the First Christian Church of Pleasant Hill, and they made their home in Pleasant Hill, except for a brief time when they lived at Lake Chaparral, Kansas.

Cheri was a full-time wife and mother for a while before joining her mother, Jessie Kennedy, as a daycare provider at the First Christian Church of Greenwood, Missouri. Later, she became an in-home caregiver for several people in the Pleasant Hill area. In 1973, Cheri accepted a position as secretary with Chuck’s Disposal Service in Pleasant Hill. When Chuck’s Disposal sold to Refuse Disposal of Blue Springs, Missouri, Cheri remained in the position of secretary and, for a brief time, after the company sold again to Waste Management she remained as their secretary. Cheri then went to work for the Pleasant Hill Bank as a teller until 1998 when she took a position with Enviro Star Waste Services, Inc. in Grain Valley, Missouri, and remained there until her retirement.

Cheri was a life-long member of the First Christian Church of Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

Cheri enjoyed watching game shows, especially Wheel of Fortune and she tended to yell at the contestants if they called the wrong letter.  She also enjoyed playing bingo and the card game Skip-Bo, but her most favorite activity was going to Walmart with her sisters.

Cheri made her family her top priority. She was a kind, loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and sister. She loved the holidays and other gatherings when her family and friends could be together and visit.

Cheri was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Jessie Kennedy.

She is survived by her husband, Feddie Younce of the home; three sons, Denzil Younce and wife Brandi of Lemon Cove, California, Thomas Younce and wife Kathy of Pleasant Hill, Missouri and Timothy Younce of Clinton, Missouri; one daughter, Anastasia Younce of the home; one brother, Robert Kennedy; two sisters, Patty Huffman and husband Randy and, Mary Weinel and husband Michael all of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; 17 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.
