BARBARA L. (Jackson) ROSS

Barbara L. (Jackson) Ross was born December 10, 1940 in Clinton, Missouri and departed this life on February 7, 2024 at Ignite Medical Resort – St. Mary’s in Blue Springs, Missouri at the age of 83 years, 1 month and 28 days.

She was the daughter of Roger Eugene and Avis Eileen (Smith) Jackson.

Barbara spent her younger years, and graduated high school, in Chanute, Kansas. Shortly after graduation, Barbara moved to the Kansas City area. She worked for many years as a clerk for the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1985. After her retirement from the post office, Barbara went to work for her sister as a business office manager, a position she held for several years.

On November 27, 1985, Barbara was united in marriage with Richard Dean Ross in Strasburg, Missouri. After their marriage, they made their home in Strasburg.

When Barbara was younger, and her health permitted, she loved spending her time in the great outdoors.

For Barbara, life was about her family, and she lovingly made all family time special. She especially loved creating wonderful Thanksgivings and Christmases for them, which always included her famous “overnight salad”.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Roger Eugene and Avis Eileen Jackson; one son, Randy Oliver; one daughter, Tricia Collins; one brother, Clarence Jackson and one sister, Peggy Stead.

She is survived by her husband, Richard D. Ross of the home; one son, Scott W. Oliver of Bates City, Missouri; two sisters, Melba “Jean” Freeman of Strasburg, Missouri and Wendy Krisman of Kansas City, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

The family of Barbara L. (Jackson) Ross will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 15, 2024 at the Wallace Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 16, 2024 at the Maplewood & Brownington Cemetery in Brownington, Missouri with Rev. Tim Casteel officiating. Pallbearers will be Scott Oliver, Jaron Truelove and Johnathan Herman.
