Martin C. “Sandy” Hendrickson was born October 29, 1929 in Lone Jack, Missouri and departed this life on December 19, 2017 at Lee’s Summit Medical Center in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, at the age of 88 years, 1 month and 20 days.

He was the son of Martin William and Ruth Agnes (Stafford) Hendrickson.

Martin was a life-long resident of Lone Jack, graduating from Lone Jack High School in 1947. After graduation he proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Navy.

On September 11, 1949, Martin was united in marriage with Audrey Marie Cupp in Kansas City, Missouri and they made their home in Lone Jack. Mrs. Hendrickson passed away on June 11, 2004 and Martin continued to live in the family home until his death.

Martin worked for 16 years at the Bendix Corporation before becoming a long time contract carrier for The Kansas City Star. Later, he took a position as a fork lift operator with Yellow Freight, retiring from there with 16 years of service.

Martin was a longtime member of the Lone Jack Christian Church.

Martin was a member of Jewel Lodge #480 A.F. and A.M. of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, and, until his death, was their oldest living Past Master. He also was a member of the Ararat Shrine Temple.

In addition to his wife Audrey, Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Ruth Agnes Hendrickson.

He is survived by one son, Martin Clifton Hendrickson II, of Blue Springs, Missouri; one daughter, Pamela Marie Parmalee and husband Donald of Lone Jack, Missouri; three grandchildren, Richard Beard of Blue Springs, Missouri, Nicola Livengood of Raymore, Missouri and Logan Hendrickson of Blue Springs, Missouri; 5 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and many, many friends.

Cremation has been accorded. In honor of Martin C. Hendrickson a Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Lone Jack Christian Church with Reverend Dr. Ann Kircher officiating. Full Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Navy and V.F.W. Post #3118 Honor Guard of Pleasant Hill immediately following the Memorial Service at the church. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the Wallace Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill, where a Masonic Service will be held at 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Lone Jack Christian Church.

My heartfelt sympathy to all the Hendrickson family, and to his grandson, Richard Beard, who followed in Sandy’s footsteps and was a Past Master of Jewel Lodge. My admiration of Sandy is because he is a Hero, who served his country and help keep us safe……………

Sandy was like a second dad to me he will be missed greatly. Sandy and Audry never locked the door on their home . They helped raise a bunch of Lone Jack residents . They were there when no one else was.
