Lawrence Greene

Lawrence Allen Greene was born November 26, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri and departed this life on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Pleasant Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was 65 years old.

He was the son of Donald E. and Anna Marie (Hamilton) Greene. Lawrence spent most of his lifetime in Pleasant Hill. He was a 1967 graduate of Pleasant Hill High School. During his high school years he was both Junior and Senior Class President, a member of the National Honor Society and ranked in the top 10% of his graduating class. Lawrence also lettered all four years of high school in football, track and basketball.

He then attended both Missouri University at Columbia, Missouri and Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri.

Lawrence was an insurance agent for American Family Insurance for many years. In his spare time he enjoyed playing golf, shooting pool and watching Kansas City Royals Baseball, Kansas City Chiefs Football and NASCAR Racing.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald E. Greene on January 17, 2014.

Lawrence is survived by his mother, Anna Marie (Hamilton) Greene of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; two daughters, Stephanie Batliner of Pleasant Hill, Missouri and Janell Marie Ridings and husband Chad of Redondo Beach, California; one sister, Donna Marie Smith of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; two granddaughters, Alyssa and Danielle Batliner both of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; one nephew, Jeff Smith of Overland Park, Kansas; his best “fur buddy” Rambo; several cousins, other relatives and many, many friends.

Cremation has been accorded. A Memorial Service In Memory of Lawrence Allen Greene will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2015 at the Wallace Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill, with Elder Butch Shewmaker officiating.

Honorary Bearers will be Jim Hull, Jay Ware, Joe Koons, John Murphy, Bill Pascal, Jeff Smith, Bill White, Mark Sharp, Sammy Shewmaker, Jim Stout, Tommy Lee, Steve Yoder, Larry Neilson and Lisa Wilson.

The family suggests contributions to either Crossroads Hospice, 10810 E. 45th Street, Suite 300, Tulsa, OK 74146 or American Cancer Society, Kansas City Metro Office, 1100 Pennsylvania Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri 64105 and may be mailed directly to either organization or may be left at the funeral home.
