Donn Miller

Donn Claude Miller was born January 7, 1953 in Albany, California and departed this life on November 4, 2015 at his home, at the age of 62 years, 9 months and 28 days. He was the son of Louis Conrad and Geraldine (Conger) Miller.

Donn spent his younger years in California and graduated from Piedmont High School in 1971.

On January 10, 1981 he was united in marriage with Suzanne Patricia Cooke in Normanhurst, Australia. After their marriage, Donn and Sue lived in California, Australia and Prairie Village, Kansas. In 1994 they moved to Harrisonville, Missouri to make their home.

At his core, Donn was a man who wanted to bring out the best in people, and loved finding ways to brighten people’s day. During the holidays he would often go out in red sweaters and a Santa cap. Combined with his grey hair and bushy beard, this made him a very convincing Saint Nick, which was a part he loved to play along with, greeting most comments on his festive appearance with a bright smile and a jolly laugh. This was especially true with young children, whose looks of wonder and curiosity were unfailingly met with a smile, a wink, and a “yes I am, (but don’t tell anyone)”. It may have been a small thing, but he loved being able to bring the holidays to life for people, even if that was the only time their paths met.

Donn was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Conrad and Geraldine (Conger) Miller.

He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Patricia (Cooke) Miller of the home; two sons, Warren Miller of Overland Park, Kansas and Martin Conrad Miller of the home; one daughter, Malynn Miller also of the home; one brother, John Conrad Miller and wife Leslie of Rochester, Minnesota; three half brothers, Jim Mucks of Anderson, California, Greg Mucks of Clear Lake California and George Mucks also of California; one half-sister, Yvonne Betar of Marin County California; one step-sister, Cricket Hall of Turlock, California, other relatives and many friends.

Cremation has been accorded and a Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 19, 2015 at the Wallace Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, with Monsignor Bradley Offutt officiating.

Inurnment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
