Kevin A. Maertz

KEVIN ARTHUR MAERTZ

Kevin Arthur Maertz was born August 15, 1964 in Madison, Wisconsin and departed this life on June 28, 2025 at his home in Pleasant Hill, Missouri at the age of 60 years, 10 months and 13 days.

He was the son of Arthur Joseph and Joann (Hart) Maertz.

Kevin spent his younger years in Madison, Wisconsin where he attended school. Later he obtained an associates degree in computer science. Kevin worked in the computer science field which lead him to be transferred to Tulsa, Oklahoma, then to Poteau, Oklahoma. While in Poteau, he made a career change and became an RV Technician. In 2015, Kevin accepted a position with Camping World RV dealership in Grain Valley where he was still working at the time of his passing. Kevin was always welling to mentor new employees wherever he worked and took pride in seeing them succeed.

While working in Poteau, Oklahoma, Kevin met his future wife, Monica Shutt, and on November 9, 2007, they were united in marriage. Kevin and Monica lived in Poteau for several years before moving to Pleasant Hill, Missouri to make their home.

Kevin was a people person and a natural born nurturer who enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends. His greatest gift was loving all his friends and family unconditionally; he knew that people make mistakes but it in no way defined who they were. He was the greatest of listeners and gave advice that may not be what was wanted to hear but was what they needed to hear. He will always be remembered as “Uncle Kevin” to all the nieces and nephews, though not technically family. He loved having people over and always made sure they were well fed. Kevin was well known for his homemade lasagna and Scotcharoos. His greatest pleasure was watching football with anyone who would. Kevin loved spending time with his pets. He spoiled them endlessly and they are just as spoiled as the kids.

Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Joseph and Joann Maretz.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Monica Maertz of the home; two brothers, David Maertz and wife Amber, and Mark Maertz and wife Patti all of Wisconsin; two sisters, Diane Newman and Joan Abendroth both of Wisconsin, other relatives and many friends.

The family of Kevin Maertz will receive friends at a Celebration of Life Visitation on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the Wallace Funeral Home.
