Jonathan D. Harp

Jonathan David “Jon” Harp was born April 8, 1985 in Kansas City, Missouri and departed this life on July 11, 2016 at his home in Pleasant Hill. He was the son of Robert Max Harp and Bonnie Renee (Ayres) Laswell.

Jon spent most of his life in Pleasant Hill, graduating from Pleasant Hill High School in 2003.

He was an assembly line worker for General Motors at the Fairfax Assembly Plant in Kansas City, Kansas. In his spare time, Jon enjoyed movies, music and especially “gaming” where he made friends from all over the world. He had a wonderful, outgoing personality and a marvelous sense of humor which endeared him to all. Above all else, however, Jon loved his family and treasured the time spent with family and friends.

Jon was a member of United Auto Workers local #31 of Kansas City.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Raymond Gene and Shirley Harp and his maternal grandmother, Helen Roling.

Jon leaves behind, to cherish his memory; the love of his life, Amber Mitchell and their daughter Daphne Harp, both of Blue Springs, Missouri; his mother, Bonnie Laswell of Wichita, Kansas; his father Max Harp and wife Jerri of Pleasant Hill; three brothers, Robert Gene “Robbie” Harp and Stacy Mitchell of Holden, Missouri, Joshua Harp of Wichita, Kansas and Ryan Wilson and fiancé Hilary Arbogast of Kansas City, Missouri; two sisters, Jennifer Harp and husband Steve Nelson of Independence, Missouri and Sydney Laswell of Wichita, Kansas; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many, many friends.

Cremation has been accorded. To honor Jon, the family will receive friends during a Celebration of Life Visitation from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at the Wallace Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill.

The family suggests contributions to the Wallace Funeral Home.
