George E. Hook

George E. Hook age 91 of Lee’s Summit, MO departed this life on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Kansas City Hospice, Kansas City, MO.

 

George is survived by his sister, Barbara Cater (Mike); his 2 daughters, Suzanne Schnorf (Curt) and Roxanne Inderlied (Bill). Grandchildren, Heather Phoenix (Jerry), Angie Kroeger (Mike), Ryan Inderlied (Amy), and Aaron Inderlied (Amy); Great Grandchildren, Justin Phoenix (Ellie), Levi Phoenix, Wyatt Phoenix, Clayton Phoenix, Eli Kroeger, Abby Kroeger, Elise Inderlied, Lily Inderlied, Joel Inderlied Caleb Inderlied, Ethan Inderlied; and a Great-Great on the way.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi L (Henry) Hook; parents, Arthur Hook and Laura May (Blodgett) Hook; Siblings, Charles Hook, Beverly Ann Christian, and John Hook.

 

George was born on January 13, 1934, in Overbrook, KS.  He attended school in Pomona, KS and graduated in 1951. He then served in the United States Army from March 1953 to March 1956. Private E-1 Hook was a radio repairman during the Korean War.  He received a Korean Service Medal, a National Defense Service Medal, a United Nations Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal. After the Army, he lived in Topeka and Wichita, KS.  His first job was at the Sunflower Ordinance Plant in DeSota, KS. He lived in Kansas City, MO and worked at the Bendix Corp. from 1957 to retirement in 1993. He met his future wife at a work party, and she agreed to go on a date with George because he had a ski boat. They were married on September 4, 1959 and they moved from Kansas City, MO to the farm in Garden City, MO in April, 1960, where they planted and sold Christmas trees for many years. Naomi and George enjoyed traveling, camping, hunting, fishing, water skiing, square dancing, and gardening. They moved from the farm to Lee’s Summit, MO in August 2008.

 

George loved people.  He always had a smile that he kept until the very end.  He was loved by all that met him.  He made many new friends on his walks around his neighborhood.

He was a great father and leaves a legacy of faith in his Lord Jesus Christ.

 

The family of George E. Hook will receive friends from 9:30 – 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at the Smart Rd Church of Christ, 13105 Smart Rd. Lee’s Summit, MO 64086. Funeral Service will immediately follow at 10:30 A.M. at the church. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, 1602 Ranson Rd., Greenwood, MO.

Family suggests donations be made to the Kansas City Hospice House or the Smart Rd Church of Christ.
