Doris “Elaine” (Shaw) Cotton

Doris “Elaine” Cotton, age 78, of Harrisonville, Missouri passed away on August 31, 2022.

 

Elaine was born in Pleasant Hill, Missouri on August 27, 1944 to Willis Paul Shaw and Nadine Lucille (Chipley). She was raised in Pleasant Hill, and remained there throughout her school years. She was joined in marriage with her first husband, Edward Eugene Stowell in Pleasant Hill on May 3, 1961. Together they were blessed with three daughters and one son. That marriage ended in 1990. Elaine was then united in marriage with Ronald Dean Cotton in Cave Creek, Arizona on December 27, 1994. Elaine worked for many years in veterinary offices in and around Cass County, most of those years at Pleasant Hill Animal Clinic. Elaine was a member of the American Business Women’s Association, and was a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, classic country music, the outdoors, and animals both great and small. 

 

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Patrick Louis Shaw; an infant niece, Patricia Lea Shaw; a granddaughter, Megan Nicole Carlile; and a son-in-law, Rusty Cotton.

 

She leaves behind her loving husband, Ron Cotton; her children, Tammy Peck (Nigel) of Durango, CO; Shelly Leach (James) of Spring Hill, TN; Paula Cotton of Cleveland, MO; and Clay Stowell (Trinette) of Belton, MO; five grandchildren, a great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews, and many lifelong and new-found friends.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to a charity of your choice: American Parkinson Disease Association, American Cancer Society, or your local Humane Society.

    Elaine will always be in my heart, she was always there to help others.
