Helping Families and Friends Honor Loved Ones Since 1959

Daniel E. “Danny” Manford

Daniel Earl “Danny” Manford was born November 13, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri and departed this life on April 11, 2022, in Warrensburg, Missouri at the age of 74 years, 4 months and 29 days.

He was the son of Murvin Earl and Grace (Johnson) Manford.

Danny was a life-long resident of Holden, Missouri, graduating from Holden High School in 1965.

On August 23, 1971, Danny was united in marriage with Sharon Kay Holmes in Miami, Oklahoma. In the early years of their marriage, Danny and Sharon bought a large Victorian home in Holden and began a lifelong restoration project. Danny took great pride in what they had accomplished over the years to restore their home. This home was always full of love, laughter and good times for family and friends, and the coffee pot was always on.

Danny was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching and attending NASCAR races with family. He enjoyed “tinkering” in his garage and sitting on his porch waving and visiting with all those who passed by.

Most of his adult life, Danny worked as a truck driver and was a member of the Teamsters Union, Local #541, Heavy Hauler. Before his retirement in 2013, Danny had worked for over 20 years for J. A. Lillig Excavating.

Danny had a kind, compassionate, outgoing personality with just a touch of “wicked humor”. He could start a conversation with complete strangers, and by the time the conversation ended he would know their life history, who their relatives were, their address, and most likely had exchanged phone numbers. Danny was a true and loyal friend and the first to volunteer to help anyone in need.

Danny’s family was the most important thing in his life. He loved his wife and children and, cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Danny gave a nickname to all those he loved and once he “named” you, that’s who you were for the rest of your life. He valued his role as patriarch of his family and worked hard every day to accomplish all he could in life for them.

Danny was preceded in death by his father, Murvin Earl Manford; his mother and stepfather, Grace and Bob Southers; his son, Jarrod Wayne “PeeWee” Manford; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bud and Joan Holmes and sister, Diane Dean.

He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Sharon Kay Manford of the home; sons, Daniel Earl “Shiney” Manford and Mary of Camdenton, Missouri, Chad Eugene “Punkin” Manford and wife Christina of Holden, Missouri, and Matthew Waylon “Charlie” Manford and wife Toni of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; grandchildren, Courtney “Sweet Pea” Nash and husband Darin of Holden, Missouri, Catilyn “Squeaker” Lankford and husband Justin of Chilhowee, Missouri, Jefferson Manford of Camdenton, Missouri, Chase “Bubba” Manford and fiancé Madelyn Rockhold of Holden, Missouri, Jack Marconett of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Jewel Manford of Camdenton, Missouri, Jenna Marconett, Jude Marconett, Matti Jo “Sweetie” Manford and Tripp “Tripper”  Manford all of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; great-grandchildren, Gunner “Bub”, Kinsley “Little Bit”, Justus, Axtin “Buddy Boy”, Suttin “Grunty Boy”, Huxlee “Precious” and “Little Bubba” who is due in November 2022; his brother and sister by choice, Bill and Marcia McConville and their children, Brandi and Steve Schemerhorn & family, James and Holly Hackett & family and, Justin and Rebecca McConville & Maddie; other relatives and many, many friends.

Per Danny’s wishes, cremation has been accorded.

The family of Daniel Earl “Danny” Manford will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2022, at the Wallace Funeral Home, 422 N. Lake Street, Pleasant Hill, Missouri. A Memorial Service will immediately follow visitation at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor John Teater officiating.

Danny was and will always be loved! He will be greatly missed! He gave me the nickname “PEACHES” as a child. Everytime someone uses the word peaches, I always think of his warm smile. Sending prayers to Sharon, Chad, Matthew and the entire MANFORD clan.

So sorry to hear this, hugs to Sharon, Chad, Matt and all of the family. I will always remember Danny’s kindness to me growing up as a kid and my family living by you all- I am pretty sure his garage is where I first learned about how to use spray paint with Matt spray painting his bike. Much love to you all! ❤️
