CAROL ANN DAVIS (Née) MABARY
Carol Ann Davis (née Mabary), born on September 23, 1946, in Fresno, California, passed away on November 9, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was 79 years old. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Emma & Joe Mabary, and her grandparents Bessie & Earl Manning and Dewey & Bertie Mabary.
Carol’s life was a testament to unwavering love, faith, and boundless generosity. Carol’s legacy lives on through her loving husband Charlie Davis and their children: Julie (Jim) Points, Amy (Mike) Adamson, Matt (Jeanette) Davis, and Scott (Mary) Davis. Her love extended to her grandchildren Brooke (Alex), Alex, Caleb, Kristin (Thomas), Emma, Lily, Lucy, Paige and her great-granddaughter Emery.
Carol’s devotion to Christ guided every aspect of her life. She was an active member of several KC area churches throughout the years including Kensington Avenue Baptist Church, Greendale Baptist Church, Claycomo Baptist Church, and Hope Church. She also attended a Bible study with a dear friend at Grace Family Fellowship in Pleasant Hill. Charlie & Carol were married and raised their family at KABC. In addition to being the church secretary, she took on leadership roles and volunteered time working in the nursery, VBS, and outreach programs. The church family was her extended family. At Claycomo, she found a close knit Sunday School class that brought her joy. She contributed to their Operation Christmas Child and kept up with friends there to the end. When her own health faltered, she wrote cards and called to encourage those she knew. At Hope Church she served as a door greeter. She had devotional time every day in which she read her Bible and prayed specifically for others.
For many years, she worked as an administrative assistant for the Superintendent of Kansas City Public Schools. After retiring, she volunteered in the Speech and Hearing clinic at Children’s Mercy Hospital and was honored with an award they presented to her for her service.
Those who knew Carol will remember her as the heart of her family. Her home was a sanctuary where Sunday dinners became a treasured tradition filled with laughter and love. Holidays and birthdays were made special by Carol’s thoughtful touches. She delighted in finding the perfect little gifts for each grandchild for Easter Egg hunts and Christmas stockings all year long. She had an extraordinary ability to make people feel seen and valued.
Nine years ago, Charlie and Carol moved to Pleasant Hill and quickly made close friends. They shared meals at Big Creek Cafe and attended the Big Creek Country Show together. After the kidney transplant, Carol loved to walk the neighborhood. She walked to the Thrift Store to volunteer and to the Dollar Tree to select her special cards. She loved sitting out on the deck with Charlie enjoying the beautiful sunset over the lake.
The celebration of life service will be held at Wallace Funeral Home (422 N. Lake, Pleasant Hill, Missouri) on Thursday, November 20, 2025. Visitation begins at 9 am with the service itself starting at 10 am. The graveside service will be at 3:00 PM in Fisher Cemetery in Preston, Missouri. Afterwards, Prairie Chapel in Urbana, Missouri will host a gathering of Carol’s family and friends.
