Helping Families and Friends Honor Loved Ones Since 1959

Tamara L. “Tami” (Kohler) Wilson

Tamara Leigh “Tami” (Kohler) Wilson was born March 17, 1980 in Kansas City, Missouri and departed this life on November 2, 2019 at Research Medical Center, surrounded by the love of her family, at the age of 39 years, 7 months and 16 days.

She was the daughter of John Phillip “Phil” and Nikki Elaine (Ralston) Kohler.

Tami grew up on the family dairy farm in rural Pleasant Hill, Missouri. As soon as she started walking, she was always with her Dad. Her love for the outdoors was evident at an early age, as she always insisted on being dressed like her Dad, complete with cowboy boots, jeans and cap. Even as a little girl she loved animals and taking care of them. Driving was Tami’s passion, whether it was a tractor, combine, 4-wheeler or lawn mower. She always said that mowing the lawn was her therapy for the week. Zig Ziglar was her favorite motivational speaker, and he had tremendous influence on her life.

Tami was a 1998 graduate of Pleasant Hill High School where she was a member of Hillside Show Choir for all four years and served as catcher for the girls’ softball team, also for four years. After graduation, Tami attended William Jewel College where she obtained a degree in communications. While at William Jewell she was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority, and a member of the Dance/Cheer Team. After college, Tami worked for AAA Insurance Company, Yellow Book and A.D.P.

In 2008, Tami took a position in dermatology/pharmaceutical sales, working for companies such as Medics the dermatology company, Aqua Pharmaceutical and Pfizer-Inflammation and Immunology. Tami excelled at her job, winning major awards such as #1 Sales Representative Nationally.

On April 12, 2008, Tami was united in marriage with Joshua John Wilson at the United Methodist Church of Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Tami and Josh made their home in Pleasant Hill, eventually becoming parents to two sons, Liam John and Pierce Lee. Even though her career was time consuming and full of immense responsibility, her “main focus” was her family and friends. She always made time for her family and was active in her sons’ school activities and sports endeavors. The annual family ski trip to Colorado was something she looked forward to every year with great anticipation. Tami also enjoyed traveling with friends savoring new experiences and cultures. She never met a stranger, and with her infectious smile and personality, she had you from “Hello”. Tami captivated and cultivated new friendships wherever she went. She will be missed by all that knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Josh Wilson of the home; two sons, Liam and Pierce Wilson, also of the home; her parents Phil and Nikki Kohler of Pleasant Hill, MO; two brothers, Clay Kohler and wife Rebecca of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, and Cliff Kohler of New York, New York; father-in-law and mother-in law, John and Kelly Wilson and brother-in-law, Trever Wilson all of Pleasant Hill, MO.; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, numerous cousins, other relatives and many, many friends.

Per Tami’s wishes, cremation has been accorded.

The family will host a Celebration of Life Visitation, this will be an informal gathering of family and friends, from 3:00 -6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 17, 2019 at the United Methodist Church Community Life Center in Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Tami Wilson Memorial Foundation, for research, education and advocating in early detection of brain tumors: https://www.gofundme.com/f/tami-wilson-memorial-foundation?utm_medium=sms&utm_source=customer&utm_campaign=p_na+share-sheet&rcid=84e375b63036490188de04603a37cd78
