Sherry L. (Clayton) Cooper

Sherry Lynn (Clayton) Cooper was born December 30, 1947 in Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey and departed this life on January 9, 2021 at Lee’s Summit Medical Center, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, surrounded by the love of her family, at the age of 73 years and 10 days.

She was the daughter of Robert Frank and Gladys Marie (Cornell) Clayton.

Growing up in a military family, Sherry lived many places throughout her younger years, including Germany, California, New Mexico and Illinois. She graduated from Genoa-Kingston High School in Genoa, Illinois in 1965.

Sherry had lived in the Kingsville/Holden area for several years before moving to Pleasant Hill four years ago to live with her daughter, Shannon.

Sherry liked watching the Kansas City Chiefs and bull riding. She also enjoyed fishing and anything to do with Native American Culture. Above all else, however, she loved and adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sherry’s favorite phrase in all circumstances, good or bad, was “let go, let God”, and she lived her life by this principal.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Frank and Gladys Marie (Cornell) Clayton; one daughter, Connie Bannister; one sister, Suzanne Watson and one brother Kim Clayton.

She is survived by her children, Shannon Root and husband Sam III of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Robert Worden and wife Robin of Harrison, Arkansas, and Kyle Cooper and wife Betzie of Warrensburg, Missouri; twelve grandchildren, Samuel IV, Trisha, Kristi, Kristina, Kyla, Jessica, Taylor, Kylie, Austin, Jerry, Victoria and Annie; ten great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Ty, Lakota, Samuel V, Levi, Lily, Stormy, Kaylee, Xander and Cassius; her fur baby, Peri; other relatives and many friends.

Cremation has been accorded.

Graveside Service and Inurnment for Sherry Lynn (Clayton) Cooper will be held at 12:00 Noon, Monday, January 18, 2021 at the Kingsville Cemetery, Kingsville, Missouri, with her son, Robert Worden officiating.

Contributions “In Memory of Sherry Lynn (Clayton) Cooper” may be made to the Pleasant Hill Animal Clinic for the Pleasant Hill Animal Shelter Account which covers all medical care and other needs of the shelter animals.
