Robert Phelps Connell, Jr.

Robert Phelps Connell, Jr. was born on September 18, 1949 in Los Angeles, California and departed this life, surrounded by the love of his family, on June 28, 2018 at his home in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, at the age of 68.

He was the son of Robert and Patricia Connell of Vista, California. He grew up and graduated high school in West Chester, California. After he graduated, he voluntarily joined the United States Marine Corp and served actively in Vietnam. Bob was decorated with commendations, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Action Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal.

On June 23rd, 1973, Bob was united in marriage with Sandy Parshall in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Bob worked hard all his life to provide for his wife and kids, often working extra jobs to do so. In 1986, Bob was elected Commander of the Fort Morgan, Colorado V.F.W. His love of baseball lead to working as an umpire and also playing softball in a league. He was also an avid bowler. Bob and Sandy just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary.

Bob, also known as “Big Red”, was completely devoted to being a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather. His family brought joy to his life and he was happiest surrounded by them.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife Sandy; 4 daughters, Trish (John) McCoy, Eileen (Ron) Toombs, Andrea Connell, Carrie Connell; one son, Robert (Chrissy) Connell III; Adopted to the Heart, daughters, Amy (Val) Zarn, Desiree (Kelli) McDermed, and sons, George (Stacy) Wandick and “T” (Derrika) Synhavong. He is also survived by 3 sisters, Kathy, Maureen and Barbara; 24 Grandkids, 5 Great-Grandkids, other relatives and many, many friends.

The family of Robert Phelps Connell, Jr. will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2018 at the Wallace Funeral Home, 422 N. Lake St., Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Funeral Service will immediately follow at 3p.m. with Pastor Todd MacLean officiating. Full Military Honors will be provided by the United States Marine Corp and V.F.W. Post #3118 Honor Guard of Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

    I am so sorry for your loss. I have alot of fond memories of family get togethers. Your dad always loved them so much and made everyone feel welcome and like family. He will be greatly missed. My thoughts, prayers and love are with you all.
