Renate P. (Hillenbrand) Waldo

Renate P. (Hillenbrand) Waldo was born February 2, 1942 in Heidelberg, Germany and departed this life on April 23, 2018 at her home in Pleasant Hill, Missouri at the age of 76 years, 2 months and 21 days.

She was the daughter of Leonhard and Magdalena M. (Muhlbaier) Hillenbrand.

Renate attended Catholic grade school and high school in Heidelberg. After graduating high school she went on to obtain an accounting degree from the University of Heidelberg. After she completed her college education, she met and fell in love with a handsome young man named Thomas Edward Waldo, who was stationed with the United States Army in Munich, Germany. On February 2, 1962, they were united in marriage in Heidelberg. Renate spent the next twenty two years as an army wife, making homes for her family in cities all over the world. After Mr. Waldo retired from his career with the United States Army, Renate became a civilian employee of the United States Military as a shift leader and cook. She served in this capacity until 2001 when she retired from the army base at Ft. Riley, Kansas. After her retirement, Renate moved to Pleasant Hill, Missouri to make her home and started a second career at the WalMart Distribution Center in Harrisonville, Missouri, where she worked until 2008. After her retirement from WalMart, Renate enjoyed time with her family.

Renate was an avid Pittsburg Steelers fan, and was a member of their fan club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edward Waldo on February 10, 1992; one daughter, Diana Waldo on March 25, 2010 and one son-in-law, Verlin Tarver on September 24, 2007.

Renate is survived by four daughters, Kerstin Tarver of Junction City, Kansas, Cindy Flint of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Debora Waldo-Anders and husband Donny of Casa Grande, Arizona, and Michelle Benge of Renovo, Pennsylvania; one sister, Helga Jochum and husband Roland of Heidelberg, Germany; ten grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Cremation has been accorded and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Wallace Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill with Pastor Randy Jaggars officiating. Inurnment will be in the Alida Cemetery, Junction City, Kansas at a later date.

    My deepest condolences to all of the family. Renate (Mom) will be greatly missed by all who knew her. May God wrap you all in His loving arms and help you find comfort in knowing she is with Him now and had been reunited with her true love, daughter and other loved ones who have gone before her.
