Mary Nichols

Mary Elizabeth (Hancock) Nichols was born June 3, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois and departed this life on January 17, 2016 at the home of her son in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, surrounded by the love of her family and friends, at the age of 59 years, 7 months and 14 days. She was the daughter of Robert G. and Vera E. (Schadt) Hancock.

Mary spent her younger years and graduated high school in Chicago. In 1989 Mary left Chicago and moved to Reed Springs, Missouri. On June 5, 1993, Mary was united in marriage with Darrell Nichols in Branson West, Missouri and they continued to make their home in Reed Springs until 1998 when they moved to Pleasant Hill. In 2001 Mary and Darrell moved to Kansas City, Missouri where they were still residing at the time of her death.

Mary earned an Associate Degree in graphic design from Metropolitan Community College and, among her many other jobs, worked as a freelance graphic artist.

Mary was an active member of The Open Door Gospel Church of Pleasant Hill.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert G. Hancock.

Mary is survived by her husband, Darrell Nichols of the home; her mother and step-father, Vera and Wilson David of Eureka Springs, Arkansas; one son, Michael E. Connelly and wife Colleen of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; two brothers, James Hancock of Chicago, Illinois and Jonathon David and wife Shauna of Rogers, Arkansas and two grandchildren, Jadon and Brianna Connelly.
The family of Mary Nichols will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2016 at the Wallace Funeral in Pleasant Hill. Funeral Service will begin immediately following visitation at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Dennis Gulley officiating. Pallbearers are David Nichols, Dennis Gulley, Gary Nichols, Lance Nichols, Terry Widner and Kevin Nichols.

Graveside service and interment for Mary Nichols will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the Gass Cemetery near Omaha, Arkansas with Rev. Lance Nichols officiating.
