Katharine “Kate” A. (Keyton) Duffey

Katharine Ann “Kate” (Keyton) Duffey, arrived on March 11, 1944 in Kansas City, Missouri and departed November 10, 2020, at St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit, Missouri at the age of 76 years, 7 months and 30 days. 

 

She was the daughter of Franklin P. and Hilda (Wahl) Keyton.

 

“Kathy” or “Kate”, started her family early, residing in East Lynne, Missouri. As her journey progressed, she also lived in Adrian, Joplin, Butler, Kansas City, and finally Pleasant Hill, all in Missouri.

 

 Kathy was a woman of many talents- hosting parties, flower arranging, and decorating for all occasions. Her infectious personality made collecting many friends along the way a simple task. She was heavily involved in Rainbows, followed by Eastern Star where she held multiple stations over the years, and most recently became a member of the Order of the Amaranth.

 

 Kate was preceded in her departure by her parents, Franklin P.  and Hilda Keyton; two brothers, Charles Franklin Keyton and Kelly Lloyd Keyton, and her two sons, Michael Franklin Duffey and Timothy Dee Duffey.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Meissa Jean Hooper of Butler, Missouri; son Mitchel Dean Duffey and wife Tracy of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; her grandchildren, Blain O’Neal McDermott and husband Shane, of Republic, Missouri, James “Jimmy” Robert Duffey of Blue Springs, Missouri, Samantha Ann Stahlman and husband Ethan, of Doolittle, Missouri, and Dakota Lee Duffey, of Blue Springs, Missouri; two great-grandsons, Kyson Rhett and Daxton Jay; cousin, Tom Hunter and wife Lynda; and, lastly, a host of friends that she loved as family.

 

Cremation has been accorded.  Memorial services for Katharine Ann “Kate” (Keyton) Duffey will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the Wallace Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, beginning at 1:00 p.m. with an Eastern Star Service conducted by Ivy Leaf Chapter #215 of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, immediately followed by A Celebration of Life Service with Rev. Clifford Woolery officiating. Inurnment will be private. Memorial Contributions, “In Memory of Katharine Duffey”, would be appreciated to: Ivy Leaf Chapter #215 of the Order of the Eastern Star, and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
