Judy S. (Leach) Miller

Judy S. (Leach) Miller was born November 11, 1941 in Bonner Springs, Kansas and departed this life on February 29, 2020 at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri, surrounded by the love of her family, at the age of 78 years, 3 months and 18 days.

She was the daughter of Harry Dewey and Grace A. (Telfer) Leach.

Judy spent her younger years in Bonner Springs, Kansas before the Leach family moved to Lake Lotawana, Missouri to make their home. She attended school in Lee’s Summit, Missouri and graduated from Lee’s Summit High School in 1959.

On January 24, 1960, Judy was united in marriage with Howard Lee Miller at the Lake Lotawana Community Church. After their marriage, Judy and Howard made their home in Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

Judy and Howard owned and operated Miller Water Hauling for many years. Judy had also been a substitute mail carrier and was a school bus driver for the Pleasant Hill School District. Later, she was the first manager for the Dollar General Store when it opened in Pleasant Hill. Judy also worked as a bank teller at the Pleasant Hill Bank before her retirement.

Judy was a member of the Big Creek Baptist Church of Pleasant Hill. She had been a member of the Pleasant Hill Rural Voluntary Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary, and the Bit and Spur Club of Pleasant Hill.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Lee Miller on August 29, 2019; her parents, Harry and Grace Leach; three brothers, Bill Leach, Bob Leach and Gary Leach and two sisters, Betty DeWyke and Maxine Watkins.

She is survived by two sons, Mark Lee Miller of Garden City, Missouri, and Jeff Miller and wife Carolyn of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; four grandchildren, Flint Miller, Rhonda Miller, Kyle Miller and wife Miranda, and Hanna Miller; twelve great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.

The family of Judy S. (Leach) Miller will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 Noon on Monday, March 9, 2020 at the Wallace Funeral Home. Funeral Service will immediately follow at 12:00 Noon, at the funeral home, with Rev. Preston Sanders officiating. Casket Bearers will be Flint Miller, Doug Miller, Kyle Miller, Dave Christensen, D. L. Crust and Chris North. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

    Jeff and Mark. What a loss. Your Mom was one of the best. She has always been one of my very favorite people. A truly beautiful lady inside and out. My thoughts are with you all.
