Jerial P. “Jerry” McHenry

Jerial Paul “Jerry” McHenry was born January 27, 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri and departed this life on July 1, 2020 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 74 years, 5 months and 4 days.

He was the son of Jack Paul and LaVerna Maxine (Covington) McHenry.

Jerry spent his younger years in the Kansas City area. He was a 1965 graduate of Center High School. Following graduation, Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Army.

On January 30, 1966, Jerry was united in marriage with Mary Sue VanGorkom at the Assembly of God Church in Belton, Missouri. After their marriage they lived in Pleasant Hill, Missouri before moving to Belton in 1968 to make their home.

Jerry was a drywall finisher and worked for the Raytown Public School System for 22 years before his retirement in 2010.

Jerry or better known to most as Mac or Mac Daddy, loved life.  He found his joy in giving. Jerry lived a simple life so he could give to others. His main passion was pointing others to Jesus Christ and being a light in a dark world.   Jerry was a member of Rose of Sharon PCG of Kansas City, Missouri where he worked in the Children ministry. Even though he had no biological children, he was a father to many.

He loved drinking sweet tea and rocking on the front porch at his home. He loved listening to Gospel and Bluegrass music.  You would always find him telling a story, joke or just laughing with others. He will truly be missed by so many far and wide.

Jerry was my oldest brother and was always a good guy. I knew him for 66 years and never witnessed him being mean to anyone. He was a guy that if you knew hm, you liked him. A simple, salt of the earth man that loved the Lord and lived a great life for Christ for many years.
May God be with Sue and all of us that loved Jerry and may we always remember that we shall reunite with him in the sweet by and by!!
