Inez J. (Moreland) Humphrey

Inez Joan (Moreland) Humphrey was born December 17, 1932 in Kansas City, Missouri and departed this life on May 1, 2020 in Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

She was the daughter of David N. and Madeline Opal (Buttner) Moreland.

Inez spent her younger years in the Kansas City, Missouri area. She graduated from Raytown High School. Later she attended House of Heavilin Beauty College and obtained her beautician license.

Inez married Dean Humphrey on July 22, 1960. After their marriage they lived in Raytown, Missouri until 1967 when they moved to a farm in Kingsville, Missouri. In 1974 the Humphrey family moved into the town of Kingsville, where they lived until 1976 when they moved to Pleasant Hill, Missouri to make their home. After Dean’s death on December 18, 2009, Inez continued to make her home in Pleasant Hill.

While living in Kingsville, Missouri, Inez was an active member of the Kingsville R.L.D.S Church. After moving to Pleasant Hill, Missouri, she became an active member of the R.L.D.S. Church of Pleasant Hill, now Community of Christ Church of Pleasant Hill. Inez was a good and faithful servant to the Lord.

Inez operated an Avon business for over 30 years and became a team leader for the Avon Company.

Inez proudest accomplishment in life, however, was that of a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family.

In addition to her husband Dean Humphrey, Inez was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Kay (Humphrey) Clark; her parents, David and Madeline Moreland, and her only sister, Donna Mae Shultz.

She is survived by her son, Michael Dean Humphrey of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; grandchildren, Kevin Clark of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Brandon Wells of Springfield, Missouri, and Jessica Madeline Joan Humphrey of Pleasant Hill, Missouri and her great granddaughters; two nieces, Sharon Lynn Mann and husband Richard of Climax Springs, Missouri and Susan Diane Brooks of Carolina Shores, North Carolina, other relatives and many friends.

Cremation has been accorded. A Private Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in Floral Hills East Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Community of Christ Church of Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
