Danny J. Swofford

Danny Joe Swofford was born September 24, 1949 in Berryville, Arkansas and departed this life on Sunday, July 10, 2016 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 66 years, 9 months and 16 days.

He was the son of Amos Daniel and Jenetta Ruth (Kimberling) Swofford.

The Swofford family moved to Pleasant Hill in 1959 where Danny attended school and graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in 1967. On February 15, 1969, he was united in marriage with his high school sweetheart, Nancy Elaine Walker, at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Danny and Nancy continued to make their home in Pleasant Hill.

For many years, Danny worked as a union plumber and was a member of Plumbers Local #8. In 1991, Danny established Swofford Plumbing and continued as owner and operator until about 8 years ago when declining health forced his retirement. Danny was the Vice-President of the Paradise Point Lake Home Community in Warsaw, MO, where he and his wife had a lake house. They enjoyed having family and friends over and going on many fishing trips.

Danny was a member of Fortuna De Oro Non-Denominational Church in Yuma, Arizona, where he and Nancy had spent the last few winters.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Ruth Swofford.

He is survived by his wife Nancy E. (Walker) Swofford of the home; two sons, Dave Swofford, and Don Swofford and wife Jeanine all of Pleasant Hill; three brothers, Gene Swofford and wife Pat of Ozark, Missouri, Ronnie Swofford of Elkins, Arkansas, and Kenny Swofford and wife Donna of Pleasant Hill; one sister, Brenda Swofford also of Pleasant Hill; four grandchildren, Luke, Cole, Ben and Marley; other relatives and many, many friends.

Graveside Services for Danny Joe Swofford will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2016 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, with his brother, Rev. Gene Swofford officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 14, 2016, at the Wallace Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill.
