Danny Bagby

Danny Bagby was born March 22, 1947 in Ontario, California and departed this life on November 9, 2015 at the Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hermitage, Missouri at the age of 68 years, 7 months and 18 days. He was the son of George E. and Phylis (Blades) Bagby.

Danny was a 1965 graduate of Lee’s Summit High School. On May 1, 1981, Danny was united in marriage with Sharon Kay Paul at the home of her parents, Fern and Andy Paul, in Strasburg, Missouri. They made their home in the Pleasant Hill and Strasburg area until 1994 when they moved to their farm near Pomme de Terre Lake in Flemington, Missouri.

His wife, Sharon Bagby, preceded him in death on March 7, 2013 and Danny continued to make his home in Flemington.

Danny was a self-employed floor covering installer for many years.

Thousands of children and adults alike knew Danny simply as “Santa”. He worked for Naturally Santa, Inc. for 17 years, in several places including Texas, New York City and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a job he dearly loved. In his spare time, Danny was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved teaching his children and grandchildren the skills involved with these endeavors.

In addition to his wife Sharon, Danny was preceded in death by his parents, George and Phylis Bagby; one brother Daryl Bagby and one sister, Vaunda Birchfield.

He is survived by two sons, Robert Bagby of Warrensburg, Missouri, and Lance Keeran and fiancé Diana of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; four daughters, Kelly Bagby of Harrisonville, Missouri, Shawn Smith and husband Perry of Flemington, Missouri, Andrea Hurst of Belton, Missouri and Alicia Pritchard of Independence, Missouri; One brother, Gerald Bagby and wife Marie of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, other relatives and many, many friends.

Cremation has been accorded.

In Memory of Danny Bagby, the family will receive friends at a Memorial Visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 16, 2015 at the Wallace Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
