Craig Daryn Laning was born June 14, 1964 in Kansas City, Missouri and departed this life on May 23, 2016 at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 51 years, 11, months and 9 days.
He was the son of Harlan E. and Brenda Kay (Mullis) Laning. Craig spent most of his life in the Pleasant Hill area, graduating from Pleasant Hill High School in 1982.
Craig worked as a machine operator in the injection molding division at Sika Corporation until a buy out of that company took place and his job was eliminated. It was during this “lay-off” period and after the death of his mother, Brenda, Craig’s health started to decline. In January of 2016, he was diagnosed with a rare and very aggressive form of cancer.
Craig was preceded in death by his parents, Harlan and Brenda Laning.
He is survived by one brother, Clifford Laning and wife Nancy of Pleasant Hill, MO; one sister; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
As Craig wished, cremation has been accorded and no services are scheduled. Contributions “In Memory of Craig” are suggested to Kansas City Hospice House, (Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care), 1500 Meadow Lake parkway, Suite 200, Kansas City, MO 64114-9937.
