Barbara J. (Kretz) Arnold was born November 4, 1938 in Clay Center, Kansas and departed this life on June 22, 2017 at her home in Clinton, Missouri, surrounded by the love of her family, at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 18 days.
She was the daughter of Thomas Kretz and Inez Cecilia (Swenson) Kretz.
Barbara spent her childhood years in Clay Center, Kansas, later moving to North Kansas City, Missouri where she graduated from North Kansas City High School.
In 1958, Barbara was united in marriage with Merle Gates and they made their home in Independence, Missouri. To this union two sons, Michael and Mark were born. The marriage later ended in divorce.
Br>On August 12, 1983, Barbara was united in marriage with Dwight M. Arnold in Burnsville, Minnesota. Barbara and Dwight made their home in Burnsville until 3M, the company Barbara worked for as a computer analyst, transferred her to Austin, Texas for a few years, then transferred her back to Minnesota where they lived until she retired. After her retirement, Barbara and Dwight moved to Little Rock, Arkansas where she embarked on a second career with Walmart. Later, Barbara and Dwight moved to Albany, Missouri and in 2008, they moved to Clinton, Missouri.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Cecilia Kretz; one son, Mark Gates on July 13, 2009; three brothers, Earl, Foster and Dale Kretz, and her twin sister, Beverly Jean Newtsman.
She is survived by her husband, Dwight M. Arnold of the home; one son, Michael Gates and Barbara Coe of Strasburg, Missouri; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
The family of Barbara J. Arnold will receive friends on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at the Wallace Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Funeral Service will be held at 1p.m. Wednesday, June 28 at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, Missouri.
