Anita Brock

Anita Arlene “Precious” Brock was born March 8, 1923 in Clarinda, Iowa and departed this life on February 7, 2016 at John Knox Village Hospice, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 92 years, 10 months and 30 days.

She was the daughter of Raymond Charles and Lillian Rebecca (Martin) Stewart.

Anita spent her younger years in Tonkawa, Oklahoma where she graduated from Tonkawa High School in 1941. After graduation Anita moved to Noel, Missouri for a job opportunity. While living in Noel, Anita met and later married Roy Dee Kirby and to this union two daughters were born. The Kirby family eventually moved to the Kansas City area where Anita started her career with the Milgram Food Stores. Anita and Roy were later divorced.

At midnight, on January 1, 1967, Anita was united in marriage with Robert Leroy Brock, continuing to live in Kansas City. Upon retirement, they moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas to play golf and enjoy life. In 2007, they moved to Pleasant Hill, Missouri to be closer to their family.

Anita and Bob traveled extensively throughout the United States, visiting every state but Alaska. They also traveled in South America and Canada, and took numerous Caribbean cruises where they visited as many islands as possible.

Anita was an active member of St. Bridget Catholic Church in Bella Vista. She had also been a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Association, the United Federation of Doll Collectors and a square dance club in Raytown, MO.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Lillian Stewart and one brother, Thomas Shockley.

She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Brock of the home; two daughters, Deanna Lee (Kirby) Sloop of Ottawa, Kansas and Linda Arlene (Kirby) Walton and husband Dennis of Pleasant Hill, MO; one brother, Orval Barrett of Gravette, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Anita Arlene Redenbaugh, Frank Harold Moore, Audra Dee Donahue, Christopher Patrick Moore, Angela Marie Spielbusch, Daisy Lynn Pfaff and Roy Dustin Moore; 19 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

The family of Anita Arlene “Precious” Brock will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 11, 2016 at the Wallace Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill where the Rosary Recitation will be held at 6:30 p.m. Graveside Service and Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2016 at the South West City Cemetery in South West City, Missouri.

Casket Bearers will be Frank Harold Moore, Christopher Patrick Moore, Roy Dustin Moore, James Spielbusch, Richard Reeves, James Donahue and John Pfaff.
